VERTIGO chiropractor in melbourne

Vertigo is not just dizziness. It is your brain losing track of where you are in space.

If the room spins, your balance is unreliable and every head movement makes it worse, you have not had the right treatment to resolve it yet. Vertigo is a neurological problem and it needs a neurological solution.

Most approaches unfortunately focus on managing the sensation. A Brain First Approach goes further, identifying exactly where the loss of function is occurring in your nervous system and addressing it directly.

This is what makes lasting change possible. Not relief that fades when treatment stops, but a nervous system that has learned to regulate again.

what causes VERTIGO

Vertigo occurs when the brain receives conflicting or inaccurate information from the three systems responsible for balance, the inner ear, the eyes and the proprioceptive system in your joints and muscles. When these signals do not match, the brain cannot accurately determine where your body is in space. The result is dizziness, spinning and instability.

  • BPPV benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
  • Cervicogenic vertigo from neck dysfunction
  • Vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis
  • Post concussion vestibular dysfunction
  • Central vestibular dysfunction
  • Migraine associated vertigo
  • Whiplash related dizziness
  • Meniere's disease
  • Persistent postural perceptual dizziness (PPPD)

VERTIGO SYMPTOMS

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness when lying down or rolling over
  • Visual disturbances and eye movement issues
  • Neck pain and stiffness

Why I get results treating Vertigo when other approaches have not

I start where most practitioners do not. The nervous system.

Standard vertigo treatment often focuses on one cause at a time. Epley manoeuvre for BPPV, physio for the neck, medication for nausea. These approaches can help but they do not always identify the full neurological picture which is why so many vertigo patients improve temporarily and then relapse.

As a Functional Neurology Chiropractor, I start with a comprehensive assessment to identify exactly what is driving your vertigo and then treat that directly. Your care combines four things that work together. Functional Neurology Rehabilitation retrains how your brain processes and integrates balance information. Medical Laser Therapy reduces inflammation and supports tissue recovery. Chiropractic care restores the mechanical input your nervous system needs to function correctly. And between sessions, a personalised programme of rehabilitation exercises and lifestyle strategies keeps your nervous system progressing on your own time.

Each element builds on the last. Together they create the conditions for lasting change rather than temporary relief.

Heal Faster and Recover Better with Medical LASER Therapy

Medical LASER Therapy may be used alongside Neurological Chiropractic Care to reduce inflammation, support tissue health, circulation and nervous system recovery.

This can be particularly supportive for people with VERTIGO who experience pain, fatigue or slow recovery from activity.

VERTIGO common Questions

  • Are you the right person to help with Vertigo?

The Epley manoeuvre is effective for BPPV loose crystals in the inner ear. But not all vertigo is BPPV. If yours is cervicogenic, central, or involves a broader neurological integration failure, the Epley will not resolve it.

Persistent vertigo after Epley treatment usually means the full cause has not been identified. A neurological assessment is what finds it.

  • I already had the Epley manoeuvre. Why am I still dizzy.

Vertigo and vestibular dysfunction are among the core conditions I see. My functional neurology training gives me the tools to assess the full neurological picture inner ear, visual system, upper cervical spine and brainstem integration and treat the actual driver, not just the symptom.

If you have had vertigo that keeps returning or has never fully resolved, I want to hear what has been happening. Call me directly before you book if you are unsure.

  • Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly without a referral. If you have existing investigation results, imaging or specialist letters, please bring them. Private health rebates are processed on the spot.

  • What happens at the first appointment?

Your first appointment is 60 to 90 minutes. I complete a comprehensive neurological and vestibular assessment including eye movement analysis, balance testing, upper cervical assessment and full medical history.

You leave with a clear diagnosis, an explanation of what is driving your vertigo, a realistic timeline and a personalised plan. Hands on treatment and medical laser begin the same day.

  • How many session will I need?

A minimum of 6 sessions is needed to achieve meaningful and lasting change. The exact number depends on how long you have had symptoms, the type of vertigo and your overall neurological health. I will give you an honest timeline at your first appointment. No locked in packages.

  • Can I claim on private health?

Yes. Chiropractic care is covered by most extras policies including Medibank, BUPA, HCF, NIB and AHM. I process health fund claims on the spot. Check with your fund for your specific rebate amount before booking.
